FITZPATRICK NUCLEAR POWER PLANT DOCKET NO.50-333 ATTACHMENT TO LER 80- 059/03L-0 Page 1 of 1 During normal shutdown, surveillances on the instruments associated with the Control Rod Drive Hydraulic Control Unit Accumulator Pressure Switches, Level Detectors and Pressure Indicators revealed that 128 of 411 instruments were out of calibration or not operating properly.

Tabulated below is a summary of the instruments of concern and the results of the "as found" condition:

1. Hydraulic Control Unit Accumulator Pressure Switches (137 total instruments) 118 units out of tolerance as follows:

1 unit greater than 970 psig "

27 units between 939 to 930 psig i 37 units between 929 to 920 psig l 29 units between 919 to 910 psig 13 units between 909 to 900 psig 11 units less than 900 psig (lowest 880 psig)  !

Normal pressure switch set point is 940 to 970 psig Manufacturer: Barksdale -

NPR ICode B074

2. Hydraulic Control Unit Accumulator Level Switches (137 total Instruments) 6 units did not function 5 units were cleaned I unit was replaced Manufacturer: Gems - NPRD Code G050 3 Hydraulic Control Unit Accumulator Pressure Indicators (137 total instruments) 4 units were out of tolerance 3 units were adjusted

1 unit was replaced due to non-linearity 1

Manufacturer: Robertshaw - NPRD Code R290 The out of tolerance pressure switches are attributed to instrument l

drift. fThe improper position of the level switenes is attributed to l 2 normal wear and tear. The out of tolerance pressure indicators are ,j attributed to Instrument drif t with the exception of one instrument l which was non-linear and replaced at the End of Natural Life.

To prevent recurrence, calibration of these instruments has been scheduled on regular' surveillance interval. No additional action is required. The event did not represent a significant hazard to the public health and safety.
