MF0613 AND MF0614)

Dear Mr. Koehl:

By letter dated January 31, 2013 (Agencywide Documents Access and Management System (ADAMS) Accession No. ML 13043A013), STP Nuclear Operating Company (STPNOC, the licensee), requested an exemption from the regulations and changes to the licensing basis concerning Generic Safety Issue (GSI)-191, "Assessment of Debris Accumulation on Pressurized-VVater Reactors [PVVR] Sump Performance," for South Texas Project (STP), Units 1 and 2. By letter dated April 1 ,2013 (ADAMS Accession No. ML 13066A519), the U.S. Nuclear Regulatory Commission (NRC) staff requested supplemental information for completing the acceptance review process and the licensee was requested to provide the information by April 29, 2013. By letter dated April 17, 2013 (ADAMS Accession No. ML 13114A255), the licensee requested an extension to submit the supplemental information by June 20, 2013. The NRC staff has reviewed the licensee's request and has decided to grant the requested extension. The licensee also requested a public meeting with the NRC staff to discuss the planned responses. The NRC staff is in the process of scheduling a public meeting the week of May 20, 2013.
