SAFETY EVALUATION REPORT RELATED TO THE LICENSE RENEWAL OF GRAND GULF NUCLEAR STATION, UNIT 1 (TAC NO. ME7493)

Dear Mr. Mulligan:

By letter dated October 28, 2011, Entergy Operations, Inc., (or the applicant) submitted a license renewal application (LRA) for Grand Gulf Nuclear Station, Unit 1 (GGNS), pursuant to Title 10 of the Code of Federal Regulations Part 54. The LRA was reviewed by the Nuclear Regulatory Commission (NRC or the staff). The staff determined that the LRA was complete and acceptable for docketing on December 16, 2011.

The staff has reviewed the GGNS LRA, performed site audits and inspections, issued requests for additional information (RAIs), reviewed the applicant's responses to the staff's RAIs and developed a safety evaluation report with open items dated January 31, 2013 (ML13032A194). Since January 31, 2013, the staff closed the open items and developed the enclosed final SER on March 30, 2016 to document its findings associated with the safety review of the LRA and supporting documentation for GGNS.

This SER is scheduled to be discussed with the Advisory Committee on Reactor Safeguards (ACRS) Subcommittee on May 4, 2016 and ACRS Full Committee on October 6, 2016.
