Background Groundwater Sampling Attached is a pdf with the location of 5 shallow USGS wells w/i 10 miles of the site. These are all water level monitoring wells with piezometers, but it sounds like they are very shallow (10 -70 ft) and the piezometers can be removed and replaced relatively easily. Larry Rosenmann is continuing to talk with USGS personnel re: potentially sampling them .Based upon our conversation yesterday, it appears that Entergy, NRC, and DEC are all interested in split sampling them to develop-local background data for H-3 and Sr-90 in groundwater, if it turns out to be feasible.I propose that as soon as John White or Jim Noggle become available we schedule a conference call to discuss the possibility of sampling these locations. (If someone else in NRC would like to work on this one.Don, just let us know.)Thanks, Tim
