NORTHWEST MEDICAL ISOTOPES, LLC NOTICE OF INTENT TO PREPARE AN ENVIRONMENTAL IMPACT STATEMENT AND CONDUCT SCOPING PROCESS FOR PROPOSED RADIOISOTOPE PRODUCTION FACILITY

Dear Ms. Haass:

The U.S. Nuclear Regulatory Commission staff (NRC or the staff) has received your application for a construction permit for a radioisotope production facility. In support of the application, Northwest Medical Isotopes, LLC (NWMI) also submitted an environmental report for the radioisotope production facility. This letter provides information related to the staff's environmental review of the application.

The NRC has prepared a notice of intent advising the public that the NRC intends to gather information necessary to prepare an Environmental Impact Statement related to the review of the application for the construction permit. Enclosed is a copy of the Notice of Intent, which has been forwarded to the Office of the Federal Register for publication.

Pursuant to Title 10 of Code of Federal Regulations (10 CFR), Section 51.28, NWMI is invited to participate in the environmental scoping process. As discussed in the enclosed notice, the staff is providing the public with the opportunity to participate in an environmental scoping meeting to be held on December 8, 2015. The meeting will be held at the Holiday Inn Columbia-East, 915 Port Way, Columbia, MO 65201. The meeting will begin with an open house from 5:00 p.m. until 6:00 p.m., followed by an NRC staff presentation and opportunity to hear public comments

from 6:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m. The NRC will present an overview of the environmental review process and will describe how the process will be implemented for the review of the NWMI Construction Permit application.

A separate NRC meeting notice with a more detailed agenda is forthcoming. You will be

provided a copy of that notice.
