SAFETY EVALUATION REPORT FOR THE NORTHWEST MEDICAL ISOTOPES, LLC, CONSTRUCTION PERMIT APPLICATION

Dear Ms. Haass:

This letter is to inform you that the U.S. Nuclear Regulatory Commission (NRC) staff has completed the safety evaluation report (SER) for the Northwest Medical Isotopes, LLC (NWMI) construction permit application. NWMIs application was submitted in two parts, by letters dated February 5, 2015 (Agencywide Documents Access and Management System (ADAMS)

Accession No. ML15086A261), and July 20, 2015 (ADAMS Accession No. ML15210A182), as supplemented by letters dated September 8, 2017 (ADAMS Accession No. ML17257A019),

September 18, 2017 (ADAMS Accession No. ML17265A048), and September 28, 2017 (ADAMS Accession No. ML17283A109).

The enclosed SER is being provided to NWMI for your information and will be submitted to the Commission in preparation for the mandatory (uncontested) hearing, scheduled for January 23, 2018. The SER has also been placed in the public document room and has been made publicly available in ADAMS under Accession No. ML17310A368. The NRC staff issuance of this SER does not constitute a commitment to issue the construction permit, or in any way affect the authority of the Commission in any mandatory hearing proceeding pursuant to Title 10 of the Code of Federal Regulations Section 50.58, Hearings and report of the Advisory Committee on Reactor Safeguards.
