Dear Ms. Haass:

The U.S. Nuclear Regulatory Commission (NRC) has approved the enclosed exemption from specific requirements of Title 10 of the Code of Federal Regulations (10 CFR) Paragraph 70.21(f) for the target fabrication portion of the Northwest Medical Isotopes (NWMI)

Radioisotope Production Facility (RPF). This action is in response to your letter dated December 18, 2017(Agencywide Documents Access Management System [ADAMS] Accession Number ML17362A040), as supplemented on March 12, 2018 (ADAMS Accession Number ML18088A175), which requested an exemption to waive the 9 months requirement for the NRC to complete an environmental review of the proposed 10 CFR Part 70 activities associated with the NWMI RPF prior to commencement of construction of the Part 70 portion of the RPF.

A copy of the exemption has been forwarded to the Office of the Federal Register for publication.
