Dear Mr. Case:

This letter is in response to Mr. Don K. Davis'etter. of November 28, 1977 concerning the limiting heatup rate of the pressurizer. We have conducted a review of our operating records at the Donald C. Cook Nuclear Plant Unit No. 1 subsequent, to the receipt, of Mr. Davis'etter. This review indicates that, the re-quired pressurizer heatup rate of 100 F/hour has never been ex-ceeded during the course of any plant startup. The maximum heat-up rate, with all heaters in service, was 67.5 F/hour.

Plant operating procedures were revised to require a limit-ing pressurizer heatup rate of 100 F/hour, subsequent to noti-fication from Westinghouse. Amendment No. 23 to the Unit, No. 1 Technical Specifications includes a revision to require the limit-ing pressurizer heatup rate of 100 F/hour.
