CATAWBA NUCLEAR STATION, UNITS 1 AND 2, CORRECTION LETTER FOR LICENSE AMENDMENT NOS. 262 AND 258, REGARDING TECHNICAL SPECIFICATION (TS) 3.8.4 "DC [DIRECT CURRENT] SOURCES OPERATING" (TAC NOS. ME2934 AND ME2935)

Dear Mr. Morris:

The Nuclear Regulatory Commission (NRC), by letter dated December 20, 2010, issued Amendment No. 262 to Renewed Facility Operating License (FOL) NPF-35 and Amendment No. 258 to Renewed FOL NPF-52 for the Catawba Nuclear Station, Units 1 and 2, respectively.

The amendments consisted of changes to the TSs in response to your application dated December 14,2009, as supplemented by letters dated September 8,2010, and October 28, 2010.

Page 3.8.4-5 of the Technical Specifications (TSs) for Renewed FOLs NPF-35 and NPF-52 was issued with errors. The information intended for this page had been updated in the supplement to the application dated September 8, 2010, but this updated information was not reflected in the amendment issued by the NRC staff on December 20, 2010.

The corrections are as follows:

  • The Single intercell connection value for the DC [DIRECT CURRENT] CHANNEL LIMIT (micro-ohms) should be less than or equal to "175.54" instead of "120.5."
  • The Single intercell connection value for the DG [DIESEL GENERATOR] BATTERY LIMIT (micro-ohms) should be less than or equal to "148.94" instead of "102.1."
  • The Single terminal connection value for the DC CHANNEL LIMIT (micro-ohms) should be less than or equal to "206.92" instead of "206.9."
  • The Single terminal connection value for the DG BATTERY LIMIT (micro-ohms) should be less than or equal to "97.24" instead of "194.4."
  • The Average intercell connection value for the DG BATTERY LIMIT (micro-ohms) should be less than or equal to "97.24" instead of "97.2."
