Site: SALEM Emergency Class: Not Applicable At approximately 1045 EST a Shortnose Sturgeon was removed from the Salem Unit 1 Circulating Water System intake trash racks. The Sturgeon was alive upon retrieval and has not been released back to the river as of 1130 EST.
At approximately 1045 EST a Shortnose Sturgeon was removed from the Salem Unit 1 Circulating Water System intake trash racks. The Sturgeon was alive upon retrieval and has not been released back to the river as of 1130 EST. Environmental personnel are working with the National Marine Fisheries for an alternate release method due to the cold river water temperatures. A report was made by Environmental Licensing to the NJDEP Division of Fish & Wildlife at 1059 EST and the National Marine Fisheries at 1101 EST.
