RE: DENIAL OF A NON-CITED VIOLATION INVOLVING THE QUALIFICATION OF CLASS 1E ELECTRICAL EQUIPMENT AND THE BACKFIT CLAIM PROPOSING THE NRC ACTION CONSTITUTES A PLANT-SPECIFIC BACKFIT

Dear Mr. Shea:

Thank you for letter dated December 21, 2017, in which TVA documented its denial of non-cited violation (NCV) 05000327, 328/2015007-05, Failure to Identify Qualification Criteria Associated with Class 1E Electrical Component Static Performance Characteristics. This NCV was identified as a result of an inspection completed at Sequoyah Nuclear Plant and documented in inspection report 05000327/2015007 and 05000328/2015007, issued on September 14, 2015 (ADAMS Accession Number ML15257A435). In addition to the denial, your letter also provided a Backfit Claim in the event the subject NCV is not withdrawn.

The NRC is continuing to review the denial and proposed Backfit Claim in accordance with our process. You will be notified via additional correspondence once we complete our deliberations.

Sincerely,

/RA/
