01 results finalized in high-profile cases. On Tuesday, we issued results of two investigations that are somewhat related to our SCWE review at Salem/Hope Creek. Although our SCWE review, issued in 2004, confirmed significant concerns about the work environment, we did not find, in our recently issued 01 results, that the high-profile alleger had been subject to discrimin

t. e s or anization,...nor that there was a willful violation

-?.when a~l ..But the key message to Industry, and to PSEG, Is that all the NRC's previously Issued conclusions about the broader Issue of work environment remain valid, and the company Is still expected to effectively address the work environment Issues. And, the NRC's heightened oversight of Salem and Hope Creek will continue.

The investigation results are discrete, separable issues. An excerpt of the our letter to PSEG, copied below, provided a stern reminder of these points: "The investigative results discussed in this letter are related to, but are separable from, the broader work environment issues that were the subject of an NRC special review in 2003 -2004. As you know from our letters dated January 28, July 30, and August 30, 2004, the NRC special review substantiated broad-ranging issues associated with the work environment at the Salem and Hope Creek stations, and consequently, the NRC is supplying heightened oversight at the facilities.

The above noted investigation results do not alter any of the prior NRC conclusions on the broader issues of work environment, and the NRC continues to consider it important that PSEG effectively address those issues. As such, the NRC will continue to monitor PSEG's performance and its efforts to improve the work environment at the Salem and Hope Creek stations until PSEG has concluded that substantial, sustainable progress has been made, and the NRC completes its review to confirm PSEG's assessment results." regards, randy CC: Collins, Samuel; Lanning, Wayne; R123&4 DRP_EsteemecLCtrpts; S/HC SCWE Ctrpts; Wiggins, James$1 in accordance with the Freedom of InforMatio0 Act, exemptions 9C- ..,,,,20 9-...9Z c~~\temp\~~~W 1OO O T PPg c.\temp\LýM00001.TMP Page 11I Mail Envelope Properties (4256C48C.FOE:
