No: IV-17-001 January 26, 2017 CONTACT: Victor Dricks, 817-200-1128 NRC Names New Resident Inspector at River Bend Nuclear Plant The Nuclear Regulatory Commission has selected Brian Parks as its Resident Inspector at the River Bend Station nuclear plant located in St. Francisville, La.

Brian Parks breadth of technical and regulatory experience will assist the NRC in carrying out its mission to protect people and the environment by ensuring the continued safe operation of River Bend, said NRC Region IV Administrator Kriss Kennedy.

Parks joined the NRCs Region IV office in Arlington, Texas, in 2011. He worked as a project engineer in the Division of Reactor Projects, serving in numerous acting Resident Inspector assignments. Prior to joining the NRC, he served as a U.S. Navy submarine officer aboard the USS West Virginia.

Parks holds a masters degree in mechanical engineering and a bachelors degree in physics from the University of Texas at Austin. He also holds a bachelors degree in philosophy from Vanderbilt University.

Each U.S. commercial nuclear power plant has at least two Resident Inspectors. Parks joins Senior Resident Inspector Jeff Sowa at River Bend. They conduct inspections, monitor significant work projects, and interact with plant workers and the public.
