Victor Dricks (817) 860-8128 January 13, 2011 Lara Uselding (817) 276-6519 E-Mail: opa4@nrc.gov NRC NAMES NEW RESIDENT INSPECTOR AT RIVER BEND NUCLEAR STATION The U.S. Nuclear Regulatory Commission has selected Andy Barrett as the new resident inspector at River Bend Nuclear Station. The nuclear power plant is located 24 miles northwest of Baton Rouge, La.

We know Andy Barretts regulatory expertise will assist in ensuring the safe operation of River Bend and will carry out the NRCs mission to protect people and the environment, said NRC Region IV Administrator Elmo E. Collins.

Barrett joined the NRC in 2003 and most recently was the resident inspector at the Grand Gulf nuclear power plant. Barrett received a Bachelor of Science degree in nuclear engineering from Texas A&M University in 1997.

Each U.S. commercial nuclear power plant site has at least two NRC resident inspectors.

Barrett joins senior resident inspector Grant Larkin. They serve as the agencys eyes and ears at the facility, conducting inspections and monitoring significant work projects.
