No: 17-031 June 28, 2017 Contact: Scott Burnell, 301-415-8200 NRC Announces River Bend Nuclear Plant License Renewal Application The Nuclear Regulatory Commission has received an application from Entergy Operations Inc.,

to renew the operating license for River Bend Station, Unit 1, in St. Francisville, La. The application is now available for public inspection on the NRC website.

Entergy filed the application on May 31 seeking to renew the license for an additional 20 years of operation. The River Bend plant is a boiling-water reactor currently licensed to operate through Aug. 29, 2025.

The NRC staff is reviewing the application to determine if it has sufficient information to complete the agencys extensive safety and environmental reviews. If the application is determined to be complete, the staff will docket it and publish a notice of opportunity to request an adjudicatory hearing before the NRCs Atomic Safety and Licensing Board.

Information about the license renewal process is available on the NRC website. A copy of the River Bend plant license renewal application will be available at the West Feliciana Parish Library, 5114 Burnett Road in St. Francisville.
