No: IV-23-008 August 15, 2023 CONTACT: Victor Dricks, 817-200-1128 NRC Names Eric Powell Resident Inspector at River Bend Nuclear Power Plant The Nuclear Regulatory Commission has selected Eric Powell as the new resident inspector at the River Bend nuclear power plant in St. Francisville, Louisiana.
Eric Powells technical experience and regulatory perspective will assist the NRC in carrying out its mission to protect people and the environment and ensure the continued safe operation of River Bend, said NRC Region IV Administrator John Monninger.
Powell joined the NRC in 2008 as an engineer in the Office of New Reactors and worked in the Office of Nuclear Reactor Regulation as a reactor operations engineer. He served as a project engineer in the Region II office in Atlanta, Georgia, before joining Region IV in Arlington, Texas. He holds a bachelors degree in nuclear engineering from the University of Tennessee.
Each U.S. commercial nuclear power plant has at least two resident inspectors. Powell joins senior resident inspector Curtis Wynar at River Bend. They serve as the agencys eyes and ears at the facility, conduct regular inspections, monitor plant operations and significant work projects, and interact with plant workers and the public.
