No: I-14-036 September 25, 2014 CONTACT: Diane Screnci 610-337-5330 Neil Sheehan 610-337-5331 NRC Assigns New Resident Inspector to Millstone Nuclear Plant Nuclear Regulatory Commission officials in King of Prussia, Pa., have selected Louis McKown as the NRC Resident Inspector at Millstone Station in Waterford, Conn. He joins Senior Resident Inspector Jo Ambrosini and Resident Inspector Brian Haagensen at the plant, which is operated by Dominion Nuclear Connecticut Inc.

McKown joined the NRC in 2013 and has been working as a project engineer in the Region I office. Prior to joining the agency, McKown worked as a senior systems engineer at the Nine Mile Point nuclear plant, specializing in reactivity controls and emergency core cooling systems. He served in the U.S. Navy for six years, where he was a nuclear reactor operator.

He earned a bachelors degree with highest distinction in mechanical engineering from the University of Kansas.

Lou McKown has the training, experience and commitment to safety that will help the NRC carry out its mission of protecting people and the environment by helping ensure the safe operations of the Millstone units, said NRC Region I Administrator Bill Dean.

Each U.S. commercial nuclear plant site has at least two NRC Resident Inspectors. They serve as the agencys eyes and ears at the facility, conducting inspections, monitoring major work projects and interacting with plant workers and the public.
