Diane Screnci (610) 337-5330 Email: opa1.resource@nrc.gov Neil Sheehan (610) 337-5331 NRC NAMES NEW RESIDENT INSPECTOR AT HOPE CREEK NUCLEAR PLANT Nuclear Regulatory Commission officials in King of Prussia, Pa., have selected Christopher Williams as the new Resident Inspector at the Hope Creek nuclear plant in Lower Alloways Creek Township, N.J. Williams joins Senior Resident Inspector Fred Bower at the plant, which is operated by PSEG Nuclear.

Williams joined the agency in 2010 after serving in the Navys Nuclear Propulsion Program for 14 years, including tours as an Engineering Officer and Reactor Safeguards Examining Board member. After completing a rigorous NRC inspector qualification program, he has been working as a reactor inspector at plants throughout the Northeast carrying out engineering inspections. Williams earned a bachelors degree in accounting from the University of Florida and a masters in engineering management from Old Dominion University in Virginia.

Chris Williams has the training, experience and commitment to safety to carry out the NRC mission of protecting people and the environment by helping to ensure the safe operation of Hope Creek, said NRC Region I Administrator Bill Dean.

Each U.S. commercial nuclear power plant site has at least two NRC Resident Inspectors.

They serve as the agency's eyes and ears at the facility, conducting regular inspections, monitoring significant work projects, and interacting with plant workers and the public.

Inspectors can serve for up to seven years at any one site.
