The Nuclear Regulatory Commissions Advisory Committee on Reactor Safeguards (ACRS) will hold a public meeting July 9-11 in Rockville, Md., to discuss, among other items, the proposal to increase Millstone Unit 3 reactors power by seven percent; selected sections of the Safety Evaluation Report on the Economic Simplified Boiling Water Reactor design certification application; rules and guidance in the area of safeguards and security; and the status of the 2008 seismic research program plan, including the status of resolution of Generic Safety Issue-199: Implications of Seismic Hazard for Nuclear Power Plants in Central and Eastern United States (GSI-199).

The ACRS advises the Commission, independently from the NRC staff, on licensing and operation of nuclear power plants and related safety issues.

The meeting will be held in Conference Room T-2B3 of the agencys Two White Flint North building, at 11545 Rockville Pike. Wednesday and Thursdays sessions will run from 8:30 a.m. to 7:30 p.m., and Fridays session will run from 8:30 a.m. to 1:30 p.m. A complete agenda is available on the NRCs public website at:
