This letter requests Nuclear Regulatory Commission (NRC) approval of a correction of a typographical omission in the Farley Nuclear Plant (FNP) Unit 1 and Unit 2 Technical Specifications (TS).

This omission occurred during the processing of License Amendments 225 and 222 for Units 1 and 2 respectively (Reference 1), where Surveillance Requirement (SR) 3.6.6.9 was inadvertently removed. SR 3.6.6.9 had previously been corrected through a reissue of the associated page for License Amendments 212 and 209 for Units 1 and 2 respectively (Reference 2). The omission was neither addressed in the notice to the public nor reviewed by the NRC, and thus falls within the scope of the guidance provided by SECY-96-238 (Reference 3). describes the typographical omission and correction. Enclosure 2 provides the page from Amendments 225 and 222 as issued, with the requested correction noted. contains the corrected page for Amendments 225 and 222.

1. Requested Action Consistent with the information contained in SECY-96-238, Southern Nuclear Operating Company (SNC) is requesting correction of a typographical omission that was inadvertently introduced into the Farley Nuclear Plant (FNP) Units 1 and 2 Technical Specifications (TS). The omission was introduced by SNC staff in development of the license amendment request (LAR) submitted to the Nuclear Regulatory Commission (NRC) for FNP License Amendments 225 and 222 for Units 1 and 2 respectively. The page provided did not correctly reflect a TS change previously approved by the NRC with the issuance of License Amendments 212 and 209 for Units 1 and 2 respectively.
2. Typographical Omission In the SNC application for License Amendments 225 and 222 for Units 1 and 2 respectively, Surveillance Requirement (SR) 3.6.6.9 was inadvertently removed. To be consistent with the approved licensing basis, this SR should be added back into the Technical Specifications as follows:

3. Correction to Affected Page SECY-96-238 (Reference 3) provides guidance to correct inadvertent typographical errors in the Technical Specifications. The omission described above was neither posted in the public notices nor was it reviewed by NRC as part of the license amendment process. Therefore, it may be corrected without a license amendment.
