14 Station Blackout Diesel

  • 2C Diesel Generator is the station blackout diesel
  • Also known as the Alternate AC (AAC) diesel
  • Only started when a station blackout exists on one of the units
  • No auto start capability. Manually started per procedure.
  • Little DG rated at 2850 kW

15 Functions performed by the sequencers:

Determining and remembering which fault condition exists Securing emergency bus loads (Load Shed)

Start the appropriate emergency diesel generators on a loss of site power (LOSP)

Aligning diesel generator outputs Starting (sequencing) LOSP or ESF loads

  • 1-2A and 1C DGs align to the A train buses on opposite units
  • 1-2A DG aligns to the A train of the unit that received the first SI signal -

when called for

  • 1-2A DG will not energize the 4160v bus H on an SI signal
  • 1-2A DG prefers unit 1 during a simultaneous dual unit LOSP Diesel Generator Sequencers
  • General conclusions for dual unit DG sequencer operations

17 ESF loads started whenever a safety injection has occurred for the affected unit

  • Step 1 - Charging pump
  • Step 5 - MDAFW pump, Rx cavity H2 dilution fan
  • Step 6 - Battery charger, air compressor (A train only)
