NextEra Energy Duane Arnold, LLC 3277 DAEC Road Palo, Iowa 52324 DUANE ARNOLD April 15, 2015 NG-15-0098 NUREG 1021 U.S. Nuclear Regulatory Commission , Region Ill Attention: Charles Zoia 2443 Warrenville Road, Suite 210 Lisle, IL 60532-4352 Duane Arnold Energy Center Docket 050-331 Renewed Op. License No. DPR-49 April 14, 2015, NRC Initial License Written Examination On April 14, 2015, the Duane Arnold Energy Center (DAEC) administered the LOIT Written Examination to eight (8) applicants (5 SRO Instants, and 3 RO Upgrades). A formal written examination review was conducted on April 15, 2015 , and revealed one post-exam comment. The station feels that question #88 was keyed incorrectly, and the correct answer should be changed from choice "A" to choice "D. " The basis for this recommendation is as stated below:

Upon written examination review, it was identified that the incorrect answer choice was selected for question #88. Review of System Description 264, Reactor Recirculation System , identified that the Recirculation Pump Trip (RPT) breakers would have opened due to the conditions provided in the STEM of the question. This would have left the operators with no forced circulation through the vessel and an immediate reactor scram would be required. This plant effect on the reactor recirculation system does not support the keyed answer of "A" and fully supports the correct operator actions/directions provided in answer choice "D ."

DAEC will not be submitting any challenges to the LOIT operating examination .

In addition, the DAEC is requesting that the written examination be withheld from public disclosure for a period of 24 months from the date administered as discussed with the NRC Chief Examiner, C. Zoia.
