DUANE ARNOLD ENERGY CENTER First Exam Date:

APRIL 8 - 19, 2019 Written Exam Outline (Prepared by NRC)

Comment Resolution 1

Several KAs needed to be replaced due to inapplicability and/or inability to write an operationally valid question at the appropriate license level.

Replacement KAs were randomly selected within the applicable category and approved by the Chief Examiner.

Administrative JPM Outline (11/19/2018)

Comment Resolution 1 RO Admins appear SAT.

2 Ensure SRO A1 is New when compared to previous 2017 SRO A1 which was a bank JPM.

This JPM was created for the SRO to verify their specific active license maintenance by evaluating the SRO watchstanding requirements.

Control Room / In-Plant System JPM Outline (11/19/2018)

Comment Resolution 1

There does not appear to be an E (emergency or abnormal) JPM provided for the In-Plant JPM.

This was corrected on the ES 301.

Simulator Scenario Outline Comments (11/19/2018)

Comment Resolution General Comment The 301-5 forms should specify which scenarios the applicants are in. (Also is Scenario 4, as listed, the spare?)

Removed the information provided for the spare scenario with updated information on the 301-5.

General Comment For Scenario 3, two Critical Tasks have been identified on the D-1, and none of the other scenarios have this. Why?

Removed the identification of Critical Tasks from the D-1.

Page 2 of 2 1

Scenario 1 Should Event 4 (DBE) be included as a setup action for Event 5 or 9? (What verifiable actions are available?)

BOP is required to validate River Water Supply system flows for structural integrity.

2 Scenario 1 What are the verifiable actions for the BOP in Event 9? (Operation of SRVs?)

This could be a C failure for the ATC.

BOP will attempt to fill the Torus using HPCI and/or Core Spray 3

Scenario 2 What are the verifiable actions for the ATC in Event 5 and 8? (BOP for 8?)

Event 5, manual action is necessary by the BOP/ATC to start the standby GSW/RBCCW pumps, respectively.

Event 8, BOP will take the associated diesel to Pull-to-Lock due to no ESW cooling.

4 Scenario 2 What are the verifiable actions for the BOP in Event 9? (Operation of the SRVs?)

BOP will attempt to open 4 ADS/SRV, two will fail to open, the Operator will open the two LLS SRV valves.

5 Scenario 3 What prompts entry into AOP 903 for Event 3?

Security will contact the Control Room Supervisor and relay the message that the NWS has issued the storm warning.

6 Scenario 3 What are the verifiable actions for the ATC in Event 7? (Operation of the SRVs?)

Updated initiating event to remove the Startup transformer on the turbine trip. This allowed us to complete the objectives of ALC. The ATC will start RCIC for injection source and BOP will place the bus transfer switch to Manual per the AOP.

7 Scenario (4?)

What are the verifiable actions for the BOP in Event 6? (Mitigating action for rising DW pressure?)

Will complete these actions during onsite validation.

8 Scenario (4?)
