Meeting Summary:

The U.S. Nuclear Regulatory Commission (NRC) staff conducted the meeting in accordance with NRC Management Directive 3.5, Attendance at NRC Staff-Sponsored Meetings (ML21180A271). Highlights from the meeting included the following:

Oklo shared the updates it had made to the siting approach. Oklo noted that all hazards that will be addressed as part of the license application and selected four geologic and seismic items to address on a site-by-site basis.

  • Soil conditions
  • Landslide potential
  • Sinkhole potential
  • Site seismicity For each of these hazards, Oklo described the basis, the site characterization leveraging existing resources, and the field work to be performed to reaffirm the site commitment.

The staff asked clarifying questions to better understand Oklos proposed approach. Oklo will consider the information and feedback provided by the staff and determine if additional interactions specific to the COLA proposed for the INL site would be beneficial before a readiness assessment.

No regulatory decisions were made as a result of this meeting.
