SUMMARY
OF JUNE 29, 2022, PUBLIC MEETING WITH UNION ELECTRIC COMPANY, DBA AMEREN MISSOURI TO DISCUSS UPCOMING LICENSE AMENDMENT REQUEST TO REVISE TECHNICAL SPECIFICATIONS TO REFLECT REVISED SPENT FUEL POOL CRITICALITY SAFETY ANALYSIS FOR CALLAWAY PLANT, UNIT NO. 1 (EPID L-2022-LRM-0048)
On June 29, 2022, an Observation public meeting was held between the U.S. Nuclear Regulatory Commission (NRC) staff and Union Electric Company, dba Ameren Missouri (the licensee) via teleconference. The purpose of this meeting was to discuss the licensees upcoming license amendment request (LAR) to revise the technical specifications (TSs) to reflect the updated criticality safety analysis for the storage of fuel in the spent fuel pool at Callaway Plant, Unit No. 1. The meeting notice and agenda, dated June 17, 2022, are available in the NRCs Agencywide Documents Access and Management System (ADAMS) at Accession No. ML22168A026. A list of attendees is provided in the enclosure.
The licensee provided slides for this public meeting, which are available in ADAMS at ML22174A347. The licensee stated that it is planning to submit the LAR by August 30, 2022, and will request NRC approval by June 23, 2023, to support its fall 2023 refueling outage. The NRC staff expressed reservations about the changes to TS 3.7.17, Spent Fuel Assembly Storage regarding lack of clarity on Region 1.
