June 12, 2024 Docket No. 50-610

U.S. Nuclear Regulatory Commission Attn: Document Control Desk Washington, DC 20555 0001

Subject:

Abilene Christian University Construction Permit Application Response to Request for Confirmatory Information

Abilene Christian University submitted a construction permit application for the Molten Salt Research Reactor on August 12, 2022 (ADAMS No. ML22227A201 ). On May 30, 2024, the Nuclear Regulatory Commission issued several Requests for Confirmation of Information (RCIs) to Abilene Christian University related to the construction permit application.

I confirm that the information in R CIs 4.2 -1, 4.3-1, 4.3-2, 4.3-3, 4.3-4, 9.6-1 and RCI-PSAR-1 is correct.

To clarify RCI 4.3-5 item 1, for safety related nickel piping in the Fuel Handling System, ACU will utilize rules for Category M fluid service in B31.3. All welded joints will be fully examined with radiography / ultrasonic techniques consistent with B31.3, including 100% of circumferential butt and miter groove welds and of fabricated lap and branch connection welds. Other items in RCI 4.3-5 are correct.

If there are further questions, please contact a licensing manager at Benjamin.Beasley@acu.edu or Lester.Towell@acu.edu.

Recognizing that the RCI s and this response provide preliminary design information and that the final design may differ, I declare under penalty of perjury that the information is true and correct.

Executed on June 12, 2024.
