REVIEW OF GLOBAL LASER ENRICHMENT, LLC COMPLIANCE PLAN UPDATE (ENTERPRISE PROJECT IDENTIFIER L-2021-SPR-0002)
Dear Timothy Knowles:
The U.S. Nuclear Regulatory Commission (NRC) staff received the Global Laser Enrichment LLC. (GLE) updated compliance plan via letter dated December 4, 2023 (Agencywide Documents Access and Management System (ADAMS) Accession Number ML23346A088).
The NRC staff confirmed that the changes to the compliance plan were administrative in nature.
The waivers to certain provisions of Title 32 of the Code of Federal Regulations (32 CFR) Part 117 were previously approved by the NRC as the cognizant security agency for GLE via letter dated November 17, 2022 (ML22318A308) and are consistent with the provisions for granting waivers in 32 CFR Part 117.7(n). Although the compliance plan does not document commitments, it is being used by GLE to keep track of the waivers to 32 CFR 117. Based on this review, the NRC staff finds that changes made to their plan are acceptable and do not impact their compliance with 32 CFR 117. GLE requested additional guidance from the NRC regarding implementation of certain aspects of 32 CFR 117. The NRC staff is continuing to prepare the requested information, which will be issued separately.
The NRC staff estimates that this action required approximately 15 hours1.736111e-4 days <br />0.00417 hours <br />2.480159e-5 weeks <br />5.7075e-6 months <br /> of review, which corresponds to about $4,500.00 ($300.00/hr). These hours were charged to the existing generic information security Enterprise Project Identifier (EPID) - L-2021-SPR-0002 - GLE Security Review. This EPID will be remain open for future security related reviews.
