Nov. 21, 2023 Our Commission held a meeting in Region I to hear from external stakeholders about interactions with the NRC and suggestions for improving public engagement. They were also briefed by staff on hiring initiatives, training activities and challenges impacting resident inspectors.

Nov. 27, 2023 Several Region I health physicists were #OnTheJob at

@Yale recently to inspect its cyclotron. Our inspectors observed techniques; personal protective equipment availability and use; fume hood use; and checked radiation levels to ensure workers are properly protected.

NRCNews: We are holding a hybrid public meeting on Dec. 7 to describe the Crystal River license termination process and accept public comments on the remaining cleanup activities. http https://www.nrc.gov/cdn/doc-collection-news/2023/23-016-i.pdf Dec. 13, 2023 Recently, a group of young Japanese nuclear regulators visited the Susquehanna nuclear power plant to learn, among other thing how such oversight is performed in the U.S. They toured the site accompanied by our resident inspectors assigned to the plant and a plant senior manager.

Dec. 14, 2023 Zee St. Hilaire was at Nine Mile Point 2 to get hands-on experience as part of our Nuclear Regulator Apprenticeship Network program. Zees next assignment, after completing the program, will be as a nuclear engineer conducting technical reviews for fuel cycle facilities.

Its the giving season and folks from our headquarters, regional offices, and Technical Training Center are doing their part to give back to their communities. Together we've donated toys, food, coats, clothing, and toiletries to local charitable programs.
