SUMMARY
OF AUGUST 2, 2023, CLOSED PRE-APPLICATION MEETING WITH URENCO USA REGARDING A LICENSE AMENDMENT REQUEST FOR REEVALUATION OF IROFS50 On August 2, 2023, the U.S. Nuclear Regulatory Commission (NRC) staff held a virtual CLOSED pre-application meeting with Urenco USA (UUSA) representatives via WebEx. The purpose of the meeting was to discuss the methodology used to develop and some of the technical information to be included in the license amendment request for reevaluation of Items Relied on for Safety (IROFS) 50 series (elimination of IROFS50a, b, c, d, e, h, i, and j).
UUSA informed the NRC staff of the history of the creation of the IROFS50 series. UUSA discussed the accident sequences that were developed during the operate while construct phase at UUSA. UUSA discussed the calculations used to reevaluate the IROFS50 series.
UUSA also discussed the methodology and technical basis used in the reevaluation.
