1042, AMENDMENT NO. 3, TO NUHOMS EOS SYSTEM (DOCKET NO. 72-1042, CAC NO. 001028, EPID: L-2021-LLA-0055) - REQUEST FOR ADDITIONAL INFORMATION (NEW SCOPE ADDITION)

Dear Mr. Narayanan:

By letter dated March 31, 2021, as supplemented June 23, 2021, August 4, 2021, September 3, 2021, October 22, 2021, and November 30, 2021, TN Americas LLC (TN) submitted to the U.S.

Nuclear Regulatory Commission (NRC) an application for Certificate of Compliance No. 1042, Amendment No. 3, to the NUHOMS EOS System, pursuant to the requirements of Part 72 of Title 10 of the Code of Federal Regulations.

The staff has determined that further information is needed on the new scope addition (submitted October 22, 2021), to complete its technical review. Note that the new scope addition has added 3 months to the original schedule to complete the review for this amendment. The request for additional information (RAI) is attached. Your response should be provided within 30 days of the date of this letter. If you are unable to meet this deadline, please notify us in writing, at least one week in advance, of your new submittal date and the reasons for the delay. The NRC staff will then assess the impact on the revised schedule (due to the new scope addition) to complete the preliminary safety evaluation report by July 2022 and notify you if the schedule needs to be revised again. The estimated effective date for this amendment is now January 2023.
