'OF DROP IN VISIT CONCERNING THE BIG ROCK POINT l EMERGENCY PREPAREDNESS PLAN AND DEFUELED TECHNICAL i SPECIFICATIONS On Thursday, June 25,1998, at 8:30 a.m. Big Rock Point (BRP) representatives visited the l NRC headquarters. The licensee, represented by Michael Bourassa, Karen Wooster, and i Dr. Robert English, met with myself and James O'Brien, NRR/DRPM/PERB, to discuss Consumers Energy Company's response dated March 2,1998, to the NRC staff request for information dated February 2,1998. The licensee's representatives clarified the information presented in the March 2,1998, letter and then indicated that they are considering the submittal of supplemental information to further refine their September 19, 1997, request for exemption from various emergency preparedness requirements and request for approval of their defueled emergency plan. )\

The planned discussion on the licensee's defueled technical specifications submittal, dated September 19,1997, was not held due, in part, to the time spent on emergency preparedness. This visit was open to public observation. No new or different information was presented by the licensee.
