Dear Mr. Withers:
This is in reference to your request of February 21, 1986 for an exemption of Portland General Electric Company from the requirement of 10 CFR 20.408(b) while participating in the NRC's pilot program for the electronic transmission of personnel termination data. This requirement states that a termination report shall be furnished to the Commission "...within 30 days after the exposure of the individual has been detennined by the licensee or 90 days after the date of termination of employment or work assignment, whichever is earlier." Since you have chosen to participate in the pilot program by sending the termination information to the NRC in this manner and do so in time intervals not to exceed six months after the date of each individual's termination, you are exempted from the requirement that this infomation be sent to the Consnission within the time limit quoted above. However, you are required to continue to meet the limit in the transmittal of termination reports to individuals as specified in 10 CFR 20.409.
This exemption is authorized by law and will not result in undue hazard to life or property.
