Dear Mr. Skovholt:

The enclosed summary of safety / relief (S/R) valve operation is forwarded in response to Part 1 of your letter of December 19, 1973.

July - December 1970 4m 6 .,1) 12-30 All three S/R valves were manually lifted with reactor pressure R at 980 psig during startup test program.

Januar/ - June 1971 4~n

1) 1-10 The A and B S/R valves lifted automatically during the startup 2 test program after an unscheduled MSIV closure.
2) 2-14 All three valves were manually lifted with reactor pressure at I 1000 psig; this was done as part of the startup test program.
3) 2-16 The C S/R valve was manually lifted with reactor pressure at i 1000 psig; held open for 30 seconds. Valve was weeping prior to manual lift and reseat.
4) 2-18 The C S/R valve was manually lifted with reactor pressure at i 1000 psig; held open for 30 seconds. Test was performed after completion of maintenance work on valve.
5) 3-28 The B S/R valve was manually lifted with reactor pressure at i 1000 psig; held open for 30 seconds.
6) 5-12 The A S/R valve was manually lifted for a few seconds with reactor ;

pressure at 1000 psig. Valve was lifted after fix of leak in air line to valve.

7) 5-31 The C S/R valve was manually lifted for 15 seconds with reactor pressure at 1000 psig. Valve was lifted to stop slow seat leakage.
8) 6-20 The C S/R valve was manually lifted for 15 seconds with reactor l pressure at 1000 psig to eliminate slight seat leakage. -

July - December 1971 ( ,, , y

1) 9-20 The B and C S/R valves were manually lifted for 15 seconds with 2 reactor pressure at 1000 psig.
2) 10-10 The B S/R valve lifted at approximately 1040 psig and did not i reseat until approximately 260 psig; this was an uncontrolled blowdown.
