Public Service Company of New Hampshire Nuclear Plant Site Evaluation J

Dear Dr. Morris:

)

On June 6,1967, we met with you and members of your staff to discuss a site on which we propose to construct a nuclear power plant, i

At that time, we lef t with you a booklet en:icled "Public Service Company of New Hampshire Nuclear Plant - Data for AEC Maeting of June 6,1967."

Included in this data were Exhibit 1 "Cumulative Population at Nuclear Sites" and Exhibit 2 "Power Reactor Site Comparison Relative to Indian Point" which was developed on a man-rem ratio basis.

~

i the impression received at this meeting was that there was no evident reason to expect unusual problems in licensing.

We have read with interest the announcements which have been mde pertaining to Public Service Electric & Gas Company of New Jersey's decision to abandon the Burlington site, at least for the time being.

From information available, it appears that the basic reason for the decision by the AEC staff and ACRS was because of population density.

l The unknown factor is whether the proximity to Philadelphia or whether a small area one or two miles from the site, where about 9,000 people

)

live, was the major factor or if it was a combination of the two.

We would very much appreciate having you review our site in i

perspective of the Burlington decision and let ut have your reactions; j

or, if you wish, we vould be pleased to meet with you in Washington.

l Sincerely your,

/
