SUBJECT:

STRUCTURAL EVALUATION OF FORT ST. VRAIN BUILDING 10 AND WALK 0VER STRUCTURE 4

Based upon the information provided by your staff in a letter dated August 28, 1985, we have completed our structural evaluation of Fort St. l Vrain's Building 10 and Walkover Structure. The results of our i evaluation are contained in the enclosed Safety Evaluation. ,

l We have concluded that Building 10 and the Walkover Structure were i designed in accordance with the requirements specified in the FSAR for Category I buildings. However, we are concerned about the apparent lack of clearance between the Walkover Structure and Building 10. It appears that these two structures could impact each other during the postulated 1 earthquake. You are requested to address this apparent impact potential and submit a confirmatory analysis to us on this matter within 90 days of the date of this letter.

If you have any questions or comments, please contact Kenneth Heitner, our Project Manager for your facility at (301) 492-8288.

The information requested in this letter affects fewer than 10 respondents; therefore OMB clearance is not required under P.L.96-511.
