Dear Dr. Bartolome:

This is in response to your letter of April 7 regarding the PAEC proposal to i

train PAEC staff members at NRC in the area of operator licensing.

As indicated in ny earlier correspondence NRC will be cooperative in providing this training.

At this time the IAEA has proposed a training pmgram for Mr. Edgardo Castm and NRC has accepted the pmposal.

In the near future I will send you an i

official letter inviting Mr. Castro to arrive at Chattanooga, Tennessee, to l

begin his training program on August 9,1983.

NRC is scheduling Mr. Antonio Portugal in the same program with Mr. Castro and will also prepare the invitation letter in anticipation of Mr. Portugal's receiving IAEA funding.

i Your letter of April 7 clarifies that your program pmposal has been submitted I

to US/ AID for funding rather than to the IAEA. I have not received any infor.-

mation from AID at this time.

I assure you that NRC will schedule the requested training at the earliest opportunity after you receive a favorable response to your AID proposal.
