Dear Ms. Rosenberg:

This letter will confim a conversation you had on August 28, 1990, with 4

Investigator Gary Claxton of this office. At that time you were briefed on the investigation being conducted regarding product substitution fraud. You were advised that counterfeit Potter and Brumfield labels were being used on altered motor-driven relays (MDRs) and that a number of those relays had been sold to nuclear utilities and to at least one utility vendor.

As a part of this investigation, it will be necessary to establish certain corporate information. This information is needed to detemine whether parties in this matter have violated 18 U.S.C. 2320 relating to the counter-feiting of Potter and Brumfield products. At your earliest convenience please j advise this office in writing of the cognizant corporate official who can i testify to the questions listed below. At this time a written response will .

suffice but the identity of the corporate official should be provided for i possible future contact.,

1. Identify any person or corporation outside Potter and Brumfield who is

, authorized to mechanically alter MDRs from one model to another.

2. Identify any person or corporation outside Potter and Brumfield who is

! authorized to alter or replace the identification plates to show the same MDR having a different model number from that which was applied at the factory.

3. Identify those individuals or corporations authorized by Potter and Brumfield to manufacture or use the Potter and Brumfield trade name.
4. Identify the legal status and protection claimed for the corporate name Potter and Brumfield.
