Dear Mr. Dingman:

I have received your October 11, 1979 letter requesting NRC to present testimony on the Maine Public Utilities Coninission Investigation of Maine Yankee (P.U.C. Docket No. U.3360). I understand that Mr. Schwartz, of my office, has been in contact with Mr. Nonnan Leonard and yourself on this matter.

In accordance with the agreement reached with you, Mr. William Russell of the NRC will meet with the Maine PUC, the complainants and the utility on October 25,1979 in your offices to discuss the issues outlined in your Oct:ber 11 memo. I understand that this will be an open, on the record meeting and a contemporaneous record, for pbssible use in the future hearing will be kept. As Mr. Schwartz mentioned to you, we cannot assure that Mr. Russell will be available for the hearing, and the record developed at this meeting may have to be included, after review by Mr. Russell, as a deposition in lieu of his personal appearance.
