SUBJECT:

PENNSYLVANIA PUBLIC UTILITY COMMISSION REQUEST FOR NRC ASSISTANCE IN PROCEEDINGS NRC testimony regarding Beaver Valley Generating Station outages has been requested (Enclosure 1). NRR is preparing testimony on the seismic design problem after March 1979. As discussed with Harry Kister of your staff on April 11, 1980, testimony is requested from Don Beckman, the Beaver Valley Resident Inspector, regarding the events related to the seismic issue prior to March 1979. You are requested to coordinate preparation of this testimony directly with Bill Russell (492-8041).

The schedule for the various meetings and the hearing on this subject are listed below:

n Meeting with PUC representatives and NRC staff members on April 22 from 10-12 a.m., Room P-422 of the Phillips Bldg., Bethesda Depositions to be given during May 7-9 in Harrisburg Hearing set for the week of June 2
