Dear Mr. Perry:
In his letter of July 8, 1983, Chairman Palladino expressed his concern to Secretary Hodel on the continuing need for NRC to keep abreast of the activities of the Advisory Panel on Alterna'ive Means of Financing and Managing Radioactive Waste Facilities (AMFM). To assure the required COE/NRC consultation process during the course of this study it is imperative that the Chairman of the NRC and responsible NRC staff be advised of AMFM study groups actions and activities on a continuing and timely basis.
We request that all correspondence and meeting minutes on these activities be sent directly to Chairman Palladino with a copy to me, and that day-to-day communication (e.g. , notification of meetings, etc) be directed to me. Such interaction will enable us to follow the panel's progress and enhance our ability to examine potential impacts on NRC regulatory responsibility which may follow from any recommended alternative management proposal.
