Dear Mr. Denton:

7 i By letter to the Director, Office of Nuclear Reactor Regulation, from

Mr. D. O. Foster, dated April 2,1984, Georgia Power Company requested i an exemption from the requirements of 10 CFR Part 50, Appendix A General Design Criteria (GDC) 4 as it relates to the dynamic effects asaciated with the RCS main loop pipe breaks.

S Georgia Power Company, acting on its own behalf and as agent for Oglethorpe

Power Corporation, Municipal Electric Authority of Georgia, and the r City of Dalton, Georgia, hereby request that the construction permits i be amended to reflect this exemption upon its issuance.

Paragraph 3 of the Construction Permit states, in part, as follows:

J l This permit shall be deemed to contain and be subject to the conditions

. specified in Section 50.54 and 50.55 of said regulations; is subject

to all applicable provisions of the Act, and rules, regulations, y and order of the Commission now or hereafter in effect;....

We request that Paragraph 3 be amended by inserting ", as modified y by duly authorized exemptions" after the words "in effect" and before the semicolon.
