VOGTLE ELECTRIC GENERATING PLANT PROPOSED CONVERSION OF THE UNIT 1 AND UNIT 2 TECHNICAL SPECIFICATIONS 13ASED ON NUREG-1431 I3y letter dated May 1,1995, (LCV-0603) Georgia Power Company (GPC) proposed to amend the Vogtle Electric Generating Plant (VEGP) Unit I and Unit 2 Technical Specifications. The proposed amendment would, in part, convert the existing VEGP TS requirements to the format and content of NUREG-1431, the Westinghouse improved Standard Technical Specifications.
Subsequent to our May 1,1995, submittal, GPC identified additional changes that would render the proposed conversion closer to NUREG-1431. Specifically, GPC noted that with respect to unborated water source isolation valves, NUREG-1431 (LCO 3.9.2) simply specifies that each valve used to isolate unborated water sources shall be closed and secured in position. The equivalent existing VEGP TS requirements specify that valves 1208-U4-175,176,177, and 183 be closed and secured in position. GPC proposec to modify our submittal to more closely conform to NUREG-1431.
The enclosed changed pages contain the information necessary to modify our May 1,1995, submittal to reflect the subject change. Instructions are provided to facilitate insenion of the changed pages into the original submittal.
