Gentlenen:
Our submittal dated April 15, 1983 provided a schedule for canpleting the tasks identified in Supplenent 1 to NUREG-0737.
Included in those tasks was a projected date of June 1,1984 for subnitting the Emergency Operating Procedures, Procedures Generation Package (PGP). Supplement 1 requested the PGP be subnitted at least three months prior to the date formal operator training on the upgraded procedures is to begin.
There has been recent NRC activity in the area of determining operator information and control needs as related to the development of energency operating procedures.
A clarification of the NBC's position on task analysis during the March 29 meeting between the HOG Procedures Subcamittee and mernbers of the NBC staff has resulted in revisions to our PGP. For this reason, additional time is needed prior to subnitting the Beaver Valley Unit 1 PGP. Therefore, we requc3t that you revise the subnittal date of our PGP to July 1, 1984. 'Ihis change is necessary to permit additional reviews of the PGP which was recently revised to incorporate additional NRC concerns involving EOP task analysis.
Formal operator training on the upgraded EOPs is not scheduled to begin until 1985 following simulator validation which is to occur in the spring of that year and therefore is not affected by this schedule change.
Additionally, this schedule change has been discussed with our NBC Project Manager and has been determined to be acceptable.
Should you have any questions concerning this subnittal, please contact me or merters of my staff.
Ve y yours, hSN4 $h4 Vice Pre dent, Nuclear o
