SCHEDULE FOR SER SUBMITTAL ON TMI-l STEAM GENERATOR (SG)
Your staff currently estimates that its SER on the repair and return to service of the TMI-1 SG will be issued to DL by May 9, 1983. The licensee has provided most of the information needed to complete the review of the principal remaining issue of desulphurization at the March 10, 1983 meeting.
We also expect to receive the responses for the remaining questions (22) on other aspects of your review by April 1,1983. A meeting is scheduled for April 5,1983 with GPU to discuss any concerns the staff and its consultants may have on the remaining issues.
It is extremely important to meet or improve the May 9,1983 date of your SER since we plan to issue the license amendment and the supporting SER by about May 20 to allow the licensee to perform non-nuclear heat-up tests above 250*F currently scheduled by the licensee for late May. A delay in your SER would require a special license amendment to allow testing of an " inoperable" SG above 250*F.
