INSERT FOR RMP TESTING REQUIRD4ENTS (SECT. ICH I)

Manufacturer supplied skid-rounted pumps which are integral sub-ccrpenents of, and are required to support operation of a parent pump or other canponent, are often times not designed to be tested in accordance with the ASME XI Code, regardless of their ASME Code class. Although ASME Code class skid-mounted pu::ps are not included in the BVPS Unit 1 IST Pt @ tan, they are tested in conjunction with the parent purnp or other ccrnponent for which they provide support, as documented in the IST Pr% tan Basis Document and applicable surveillance test. 'Ihis ensures that the skid-mounted punps operate acceptably ccr:rensurate with their safety functions provided satisfactory perforrance of the parent pump or other ccmponent is demonstrated. Because it has been recognized that the test of the parent punp or other ccmponent itself challenges the operability of the subm u w nts, relief fran Code testing requirements and including ASME Code class manufacturer supplied skid-mounted purTs in the IST P&wima (is being requested / has been approved by the NRC).

Manufacturer supplied skid-mounted valves (i.e. , chedc valves, SOV's, ' ICV's, relief valves) stich are integral sub-components of, and are required to support the operation of a parent purp or other component, are often times not designed to be tested in accordance with the ASME XI Code, regartiless of their ASME Code class. Although ASME Code class skid-mounted valves are not included t in the BVPS Unit 1 IST Program, they are either tested in conjunction with the parent purp or other ccxuponent for which they provide support, as dtv,wnted in the IST Program Basis Wmnt arxi applicable surveillance test, or are examined separately by a preventative maintenance activity. 'Ihis enstires the skid-mounted valves operate acceptably maerusurate with their safety functions provided satisfactory performance of the parent punp or other ccruponent is dera4 = Luted.
