Since the original testimony was given, I have met

9 Those meetings have proven to be extremely frustrating as we find that we are lacking of.information that-would be helpful to the schools in order to prepare such a plan and also due to-the Nact that we have never faced problems such as this before.

We are'not equipped - do not have the training or background to put into place a plan although we are attempting to do.so. One thing that has been f

accomplished is a survey of the school' districts in the i

l

-County in order to gather information, data on specifics i

that could be worked into some kind of an emergency response plan.

That data includes the number of: children in any l

given school building, the staff in that building and the h

number of children who ride vehicles, school buses, the i

number of walkers etc.

At the present time we are trying to computerize this information so that we can create a data base from which the plan might be developed.

During i

this~same period of time, I have met with the Citizens Advisory Committee in an attempt to assist in a review of the county paln for a response in an emergency.

In addition to these activities,.the School Business Officials have met with representatives of the Red Cross and most recently, have had discussions with other County officials, Highway Department, Social Services, etc. to try to coordinate our activities with theirs to develop a plan or some type of activities which would be worked into an overall County plan.

As-I stated before, the schools stand ready to assist in'whatever actions might be required, however, we do feel particularly frustrated in not having information to work with; in not having the resources to work with and not having assi~ stance from personnel who might be

_ qualified to provide such assistance.
