On August 31, 1981, the Citizens for Nuclear Reactor Safety, Inc. (CNRS), an intervenor in the ongoing operating-license renewal proceeding for the AFRRI TRIGA research reactor on the grounds of the National Naval Medical Center in Bethesda, Maryland, submitted a request to the Commission for a hearing on the i

agency's renewal of the 10 CFR Part 30 i

byproduct materials license held by l

AFRRI.

The license was renewed by staff j

on July 28, 1981, and authorizes AFRRI l

to keep quantities of Cobalt-60 on the Medical Center site where the reactor is located until July 31, 1986. 1/

materials license applications, no public notice of the i

filing of an application for renewal by AFRRI was published nor was there any public notice that renewal of the license had been granted.
