This is to confirm ny conversation with Chaiman Coufal on October 21, 1977. At that tine I advised him that the licensea, General Electric Company, had inforced the Staff late on October 20, 1977 that it had confimed the existence of shallow threst faulting within about 200 feet of the General Electric Test Reactor (GETR).

Also on October 21, 1977, I ccmunicated the sace infornation to Jed Sonit, Esq. counsel for the petitioners in this proceeding.

This'is also to confirm ny further conversation with Chaiman Coufal on October 25, 1977 at which tine I inforr.ed him that on October 24, 1977 the Director, Office of ficclear Reactor F.egulation had issued an Order to Shou Cause suspending operation of GETR effective upon completion of the present cycle on October 27, 1977. This further inforr.ation was similarly corrunicated to !!r. Sonit on October 25, 1977.

A copy of the Order to Show Cause is attached for your infomation.
