Forwarding of FEMA Findings Enclosed are copies of correspondence received from FEMA forwarding their evaluation of thefoffsite emergency preparedness exercises which were conducted on February 17, 1982, July 14, 1982, and August 24, 19.82, at the Beaver Valley site. As described in the enclosures, FEMA has identified a number of apparent offsite deficiencies that need to be resolved.
We understand that many of the identified items may have already been resolved or are in the process of being resolved. We encourage your continued assist-ance to the affected states and counties to correct all deficiencies noted by FEMA before the coming February 16, 1983, exercise. At that time, all perti-nent areas will be re-evaluated, and the results used by the NRC in any deci-sions pertaining to the adequacy of the state of emergency preparedness at the Beaver Valley site.
We also encourage you to work closely with the states and counties in the development of a scenario for the February 16th exercise that will test as many of the areas as practical in which the previously identified deficiencies were found.
