Crystal River Unit #3 Docket No. 50-302
Dear Mr. Stol:
On January 17, 1977, we received your letter of January 12, 1977 requesting FPC to respond within 30 days to an NRC position requesting that the reactor coolant system flow indication for Crystal River Unit #3 be modified to meet single failure criterion.
The response was to include de-tails of any design modification proposed and the schedule for the con.pletion of the installation of the proposed modi-fication ass;' ming acceptance by NRC.
Since receipt of your letter, we have been in contact with our NSSS supplier, B6W, and other B6W licensees who have re-ceived a similar NRC position letter, in an attempt to arrive at possible solutions to your position.
As of this writing, we have not established a definite approach to the concern, but are evaluating several potential solutions which we should discuss with you.
We request the opportunity to meet with you and/or your staff to discuss this p roblem.
We also feel it would be beneficial if other B6W licensees who have received your position letter be invited to attend the meeting.
Please inform us of the possibility of such a meeting, so that this problem can be resolved and the requested modification
